So far, I can tell Mummy when I want some ‘nana. But apart from that and ‘toast’ that’s all I can put into words, so if I’m just plain hungry I also say ‘nana and she seems to get the message. But I really really really love ‘tanas at the moment, and I wanted Mummy to know that I wanted them really badly. Luckily in my little shopping trolley, I found this…
Oooo, that could be useful.
I thought maybe there were some ‘tanas hiding inside, so I took them to Mummy. There weren’t in there, but she got me some from the cupboard instead. Result! It’s so good to get what I want.
Just after my birthday, maybe 8 days after, I started to walk. Yes, you heard me… WALK! Yippee! Finally I got my legs and feet working together. It is THE BEST! I love to walk all around the house, just making sure each room is still there. Picking up teddies from one room and taking them to another. Wearing down a groove in the floor.
This... is... awesome!
It’s all happening now. I’m getting bigger, taller, I’m growing out of size 1′s, my hair is longer. In fact, check it out. It’s just like my Mum’s when she was my age.
Business in front, party at the back.
I love exploring and getting into everything, like Daddie’s glasses, Mummy’s sunnies and my new seat.
Oh man I look good.
Mummy and I went to the shops just before Easter, and when I was there I saw the biggest bunny in the world! My eyes widened, my arms went out and I hugged and patted him for about 15 minutes. I love him!
I love him so much I drooled a little in the 2nd photo
But the thing I love most are my books. I just grab them down from the shelf, take them to Mum and Dad to read to me, or I just flick through the pages all on my own. They are so pretty and interesting.
They’re helping me learn lots of words too, which I’ll tell you about next time
On my actual birthday, all of my grandparents arrived in Sydney. Memme, Papadoodles, Dallie & Pop, all came to my house and gave me lots of cuddles and kisses… oh, and presents, hee hee.
I'm one lucky girl!
You’d think that would be enough, but there was more to come. I had a party! A party in the park, with as many of my family and friends that could make it. We ate yummy food like cheese and vegemite sandwiches, rolls, biscuits, chicken, fairy bread, and… check out my birthday cake!
Smarties make it better!
I really enjoyed the sun, trees, wind, cuddles and especially the grass, because there was plenty of space for people to walk me around. I couldn’t walk on my own yet, I needed my hands held. But I tell you what, all that walking can tucker a little girl out!
Did I miss anything?
So I didn’t quite make it to pass the parcel, but I only really wanted the wrapping paper anyway.
Thank you everyone for all of my presents and to my Mum, Dad and grandparents for making all the yummy party food and for making me feel so very special.
February was REALLY busy! Yeah yeah, I know I say that all the time, but it really was! I was getting faster and faster with my crawling, working on my walking feet, plus I was getting ready to turn ONE!
Mum and I took lots of trips to the shops, but sitting quietly in my pram just isn’t my thing any more. It’s much better getting places by myself and there is so much space in shopping centres, so I like to explore them. Like the time I took off through the aisles of Target, happily giggling and tugging on clothes and pulling things off shelves. Then Mum rudely picked me up and put me back in my stroller… NOT FAIR! You can still see the tears in my eyes as Mummy tried to comfort me with a bottle.
I thought I didn't need Mummy, but then I realised I wanted milk
I also had lots of adventures with my friends in the park. We are always at the playground now, because we like to play and the weather is nice. No more cosy coffee shops for those chatty mummies. Our playground has a sandpit, with a water tap for soggy sand play. Wet sand feels AWESOME! I love to get it everywhere, eat it and sit right in the middle of it! Yummmmm!
Gritty and dirty... just how I like my vegemite toast.
I think I must have grown my funny bone this month too, because I’m really funny and I have great comic timing just like my Dad.
Checking the beer / my best smile / hair modelling / eating elmo's head
And all month, I liked nothing more than being helped to walk EVERYWHERE!
My top says it all!
So there you go. Pretty cool huh? I’ll write a super birthday special for you next.
Well it’s a brand new year, ummmm, well it was… it’s now March! Oops! But I’ve been really, really busy. So how about I tell you a bit about January? Since getting back from my interstate adventures, I’ve been getting back into Sydney life. Going to Gymbaroo, swimming classes, hanging out with my friends and playing with all my new toys! I think Mummy and Daddy’s luggage must have been really heavy!
Yep, I'm totally not just lying down, looking at the ceiling, any more!
Our house is so much more interesting now that I can crawl and cruise to all the places I feel like going (I’m actually walking now, but more on that in March). I used the furniture to help me get around… like this!
Oh yeah, I'm cruising! And working on the serious business of pulling apart Mummy's purse.
As I waved a $20 note in the air and shoved it into my mouth, Mummy said “Why do you thwart me Coco?” THWART!? That is the weirdest word I’ve ever heard! It made me laugh. Mummy kept saying it and I kept laughing. It sounds likeĀ a strange animal. I also had my first sandwich. It was a cheese sandwich… yummmm!
It always tastes better when someone else makes it.
My first tooth came through too!!!! But it was quickly followed by the next five! Ouch! But I was a good girl and I didn’t grizzle too much. I’ve been doing heaps of fun things really. Like going away to Pearl Beach with the Stevens/Jennings crew for Australia Day.
Sachin and Edie are heaps of fun and they're funny! Perfect.
My first ocean swims and bush walks... not bad for 11 months of age.
But that was just January… more Coco adventures to come!
Well after Adelaide, my travels weren’t over yet. I went to Echuca, or as I like to say ‘Chewka’. But a really cool thing happened somewhere between the two towns… I saw my cousin Addison in Melbourne! We had lunch together at her house, with my Uncle Todd and Aunty Bronwyn. Addi has heaps of cool toys, a really lovely house and she is sooooo wonderful! I can’t wait to see her again really soon at her Christening. I’m going to be there for sure!
Uncle Toddy and my double trouble cuz Addi
Memme and Papadoodles drove me to Chewka, and guess who visited me there? Uncle Kitty! He is so cool, fun and cuddly. I love him! I’m not sure if I’ll learn bass, drums, song writing or rock godness from him. Maybe all four!
Mine Kinny taught me the tambourine... I'm in the band! Yay!
Do you know who else came to Chewka? My mind-blowingly entertaining cousins, Hal, Nina and Leo. Okay, technically they are like third cousins or something, but that’s just too much. They are my family and they are fab and that’s all that matters! We had so much fun, I could watch them run around ALL DAY! Plus my hair is the same colour as theirs. We match!
We have 'The Force' on our side
I just had the best time at Chewka, that sometimes it was all too much and I had to crash out… big time.
When I’m sleepy there’s no stopping me.
Hmmm, looks like Mummy crashed out too. It was really great to be with my Memme and Papa D again. I had lots of special chats, cuddles and walks with them. I got a bit sick with a chest infection before I left, so I look a bit dopey in this last photo, but I love them all the same.
Guess what? I had a picture created of lil ol’ me! My friend Geoff Barrington is an artist, and at his BBQ in Adelaide, he sketched me and my friend Cato.
He's soooo clever!
Amazing huh? It only took him about 10 minutes for each one. What a talent. I think I’ll like drawing one day too. Thanks Geoff!
Okay I can’t hold it back any longer… I started crawling over the holidays! On 30 Dec 2008, I got up on my hands and knees, and I moved forward. Hurray for me!!! I was at my Aunty Amber and Uncle Nigel’s house in Adelaide, I was playing on the rug and voila! Here’s a little video of the second time I crawled that day. It’s only a couple of steps and then I sit down, but still… be amazed!
Mummy and Daddy were so excited! So were Dallie and Pop, because it all happened in Adelaide. I had such a lovely time. I made my first long crawl across their beautiful tiles, chasing an ant. The pesky little thing got away! Check out some of my awesome crawling poses on our trip to Silver Sands.
This is fun!
It was also the first time I walked on sand and felt the ocean on my feet.
Woo... this is the biggest bath I've ever seen!
I also decided that I wanted to sample walking. So it was everyone’s duty to hold my hands and take me for a walk! I had lots of personal slaves.
Faster, faster!
But it’s very naughty, because I’m supposed to learn to walk by myself.
There is still so much to catch up on…. I better get a wriggle on and tell you about all my other ‘firsts’!
Adelaide was the place to be. It was so exciting! The first and bestest thing was having all of my grandparents together. Memme and PapaD were invited to join Dallie and Pop’s Christmas. I was in heaven! I had 4 sets of fresh arms to hug and play with me.
L-R: PapaD, Memme, Pop, Dallie & me!
Then I had the best thing happen, more of my family showed up, and we opened PRESENTS!!! This Christmas thing is cool. Everything is colourful and pretty and sparkly.
Mmmm looks pretty, but tastes better.
I had so many wonderful presents, it’s hard to name favourites, but my face certainly lit up when I opened this one…
OMG! Iggle Piggle & Upsy Daisy!!!
But the best part was sitting around the table with my grandparents, uncle, aunt and cousins, and having my first taste of Christmas Ham. Yummm! I love it just like my Daddy does.
It tastes better with a hat on.
But what else did I get up to in Adelaide? You’ll see…
